Star Trek game 3D unity open source

Project Overview

This is a fan-made Star Trek: The Next Generation style 3D space exploration game, developed by myself with AI assistance, built on Tuanjie Engine 1.9.3. Repo: https://github.com/zhj-ldm/star-trek-flight-game-unity

Features implemented: Full warp visual effects, phaser array weapons, space stations. Enemies include Klingon, Borg Cube and Dominion ships, focused on free space exploration. Planet rendering still needs improvements.

Project Status & Reason for Pausing Development

I don’t plan to keep iterating on this current build. My long-term goal is to create an architecture that supports easy external modding and full controllability. Tuanjie Engine does not fit these requirements, so I will not continue working on this project.

This is not a permanent abandonment. Future updates are not guaranteed.

The source code remains open source; feel free to fork and extend it. All model assets in the repo are placeholder empty files for copyright protection. Contact me separately if you want the full asset version.

Fan project for technical demonstration only. Not affiliated with official Star Trek.

[startrek.website] [Open Source] I built a Star Trek TNG/DS9/VOY Ship Computer AI Agent — Full Voice Control for PC (startrek.website)

As shared from Lemmy · c/startrek · by zhjldm

[Open Source] I built a Star Trek TNG/DS9/VOY Ship Computer AI Agent — Full Voice Control for PC

Project: Self-developed Star Trek TNG / DS9 / VOY-style Ship Computer AI Agent | Open Source Repo: https://github.com/zhj-ldm/Star-Trek-voice-computer-rust

This is a fan-made AI Agent replicating the starship voice computer from Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), Deep Space Nine (DS9) and Voyager (VOY). Functionally similar to Open Claw. You can connect your own AI models. Built with pure Rust and Electron, no heavy dependencies. Pre-compiled macOS build available; Windows build coming soon.

Implemented Features

Voice Pipeline (Pure Rust)

  • Wake-word detection (KWS, default wake word: computer)
  • Interrupt phrase (default: computer stop): instantly stop ongoing voice playback
  • Speech-to-text: sherpa-onnx funasr, better Chinese recognition performance than Whisper
  • TTS synthesis: built-in edge-tts or local goose-tts binary, configurable voice tone and playback speed
  • Anti-self-trigger protection: the agent will not wake itself up by its own synthesized speech

Agent Capabilities

  • Multi-turn conversations with context memory
  • Built-in multi-engine web search. No API keys or external binaries required
  • Multi-model round-robin support: add multiple base URLs, model names and API keys to spread rate limits; switch active model anytime
  • Compatible with both OpenAI Chat Completions and Anthropic Messages API protocols
  • Cron scheduled tasks, multi-session management, long-term memory

Skill System

  • Folder-driven skill loading: place skills into the target directory and the agent auto-discovers them
  • Skills can call the program’s built-in ASR / KWS voice capabilities; skills do not need their own speech models

Included sample skill: Personal Log system. Once activated, it continuously records audio; no file is saved during silence. It automatically transcribes the recording into a matching Markdown file. Activation uses the classic starship announcement: Personal Log, Stardate …

Fan-made open-source hobby project. Not affiliated with the official Star Trek franchise.

[startrek.website] Bought a pair of Fluevog x Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Starfleet boots (startrek.website)

Bought a pair of Fluevog x Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Starfleet boots

Ordered just in time for Halloween to wear with my new SNW skant. Arrived in three days which was fast. I am super pleased with the fit.

These are one of three officially produced boots from Fluevog worn on screen in Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy. This boot is the Starfleet which is the standard duty footwear worn on Strange New Worlds. It comes in white if you wish to wear a Medical uniform.

Starfleet Academy has two models, a full size boot called Academy and a shorter shaft called Recruit. Aside from this there is a ankle-height version of Starfleet called Cadet (available in black only) that is a retail exclusive style that is not seen on screen.

If you plan on purchasing any of these boots, please follow the sizing guide, as each one is different. Below I have included additional photos of the boots from different angles.

Star Trek: Voyager Theme but the theme is coming from Voyager [by Auralnauts]

The Voyager theme (which is objectively the best) now also got the diegetic music treatment by Auralnauts.

Here are links to the other shows:

Did Sisko make the right decision in S02 EP05 Cardassians? [Spoilers for this episode!]

For context, Rugal was the young Cardassian boy raised by Bajoran parents. Sisko is deliberating between sending Rugal back to Cardassia to live with his biological father when Rugal wishes to remain on Bajor with his adoptive parents. Sisko decides to send the boy to Cardassia to live with his biological father who he doesn't love or remember. What the fuck Sisko? It's a completely ass backward decision on his part, if you ask me which of course you don't. Poor Rugal.

[startrek.website] Starfleet Delta inspiration? (startrek.website)

Starfleet Delta inspiration?

We went on a tour of the NS Savannah, the first civilian nuclear-powered merchant ship, it sailed from early 60s to mid 70s. While so much of the ship reminded me of TOS (the mid-century look but also stuff like the ‘grates’ in the staterooms), our tour guide pointed out these tables and said Gene Roddenberry had been on the ship at some point prior to TOS. Just thought it was interesting!

Paramount Max, here we (eventually) come. Unless this whole financial house of cards implodes first, of course.

[startrek.website] The one episode you'd share to get someone into Star Trek (startrek.website)

As shared from Lemmy · c/startrek · by thorhop

The one episode you'd share to get someone into Star Trek

So I'm a long time Trekkie and besides most of the newer shows (like Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Academy) I'm pretty familiar with each of the shows - the old ones anyway.

But when i managed to convince someone to watch a single episode of Star Trek I'm a little bit at a loss. Personally I'd go for one of the Ibsenesque power plays, just because the person in question likes Psychological thriller sci-fis - like Black Mirror.

So I'm stuck between these episodes:

  • TNG: "The Survivors" - This was heart wrenching the first time I saw it. It's one of those episodes that reminds of the old Frankenstein conundrum: who is really the monster? As an incurable romantic, I flip flop between condemning the antagonist and sympathising with his pain. He made a prison of his own making and I can sort of identify with that.
  • Enterprise: "Cogenitor" - Though I find Enterprise hard to get into (because it's such a departure from the rest of Star Trek), this episode sticks out to me as another conundrum. What if someone didn't know what freedom or individuality was introduced to those concepts, only to be forced back to a reality of servitude, subservience and being an organic appliance in people's lives without the right to have your own.
  • Voyager: "Nemesis" - I thought about this one purely for the reveal at the end. It's not the best episode, but it's one of those reveals that show you the lengths people are willing to go to when trying to destroy an enemy - even at the cost of people's lives, and minds.
  • DS9: "Duet" - this episode is the least sci-fi, but it sure shows the ravages of war - on the minds and hearts of anyone. Survivors guilt is one thing, and cowardice another, but what can be said for those who had to witness atrocities and felt powerless to do anything about it? The woes of a filling clerk...

These are just my picks, some episodes that stuck with me. But what episode - if only a single one, from any of the shows would you pick as someone's first introduction to Star Trek?

Have a great one!
